ROBBIE & MAX SIEGELMAN
Family Legacy Brand Award
Robbie Siegelman was born and raised on Long Island, where he still lives today. He graduated from The Wheatley School in Old Westbury, N.Y., and Jacksonville University in Florida. His love for horses began with summer jobs at Roosevelt Raceway, where he groomed and exercised racehorses.
After college, Robbie returned to Long Island as Assistant Trainer for the Abbatiello Brothers’ renowned harness racing stable. He launched his own stable in 1982, later relocating to the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey in the early 1990s.
At the Meadowlands, Robbie became active in community outreach, creating “Hands On,” a program introducing inner-city Newark youth to horse care and racing. He also launched “Horses with Hearts,” in partnership with Hackensack Hospital, offering pediatric cancer patients visits to his barn, race outings, and access to local sports events at the Meadowlands.
When HorseAbility moved to SUNY Old Westbury, near Robbie’s home, he connected with founder Katie McGowan to start a driving program for veterans and individuals with special needs. Now retired, Robbie still manages a few horses but spends much of his time at HorseAbility, caring for the herd and giving lessons.
Robbie has been married to Louise, whom he met in college, for 40 years. Louise recently retired after a long career at ABC Sports and ESPN. They have two sons, Jesse and Max. Jesse works at Barclays Capital, and Max is a strategist and entrepreneur known for creating culturally impactful brands.
As the son of a horse trainer, Max grew up immersed in harness racing. Blending his equestrian roots with contemporary fashion, Max launched Siegelman Stable, a luxury sportswear brand that supports equine therapy in 2020. Under his leadership, Siegelman Stable has expanded from a niche headwear line to a full lifestyle brand, gaining recognition through high-profile collaborations at the intersection of fashion, culture, and sports. Before creating Siegelman Stables, Max spent a decade at OUTFRONT Media, establishing its social media and cultural relevance divisions, and founded his own consultancy, collaborating with global brands, artists, athletes, and designers.
